While I have to say, my level of Mandarin Chinese is still above the one of my four year-old. I cannot deny that I already feel the need to stay ahead.
The world is evolving and changing at such a rapid pace, which means that language evolves with it. Whether it be new technology and or new concepts, they all need to find a place in today’s vocabulary. And if your vocabulary consists of more than one language, you will have to learn them in each language. And we can find all of that on social media nowadays.
I guess the benefit of globalization is that cultures are evolving more similarly. We are watching more of the same movies, sharing more of the same technology, sometimes even holidays. So that’s a huge plus for me!
As a person who has spent a large part of her life trying improving her Chinese skills, I have found many opportunities to learn through social media. I scroll Instagram many times a day, too many times a day. But I think that if I am going to be on there anyway, I need to make a concerted effort to focus on accounts and people that can help me improve myself.
Anyway, here is a list of Instagram accounts that I like to follow to keep my Chinese up-to-date.
I especially like them because they are created by people who share today’s lingo, and also post frequently.
